What is SIPRelay?
SIPRelay® is a free service for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals to place and receive text-based relay calls using a computer or mobile device. A Sorenson Communications Assistant (CA) relays the conversation between the hearing person on a telephone and the deaf person on SIPRelay.
How Does SIPRelay Work?
All you need to use SIPRelay is a computer with an internet connection, or a mobile device with either AOL Instant Messenger™ (AIM®) or SIPRelay Mobile for BlackBerry®. Hearing users can place calls to deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals by dialing their 10-digit local number and the call will connect to the CA and deaf recipient automatically.
Deaf individuals must be registered with mySorenson before they are able use SIPRelay. Please visit www.mysorenson.com to create an account. Once your account is created, you will be able to place SIPRelay calls. Within a few days, you will receive a free local 10-digit number. When you receive your number, you will be able to receive SIPRelay calls also.
